In our globalising world, conflict and violence is everywhere. We have historical entimites, some conceptions such as nationalism, racism, sexism which creates ethnic and cultural divides. In this way these discriminations were appeared as conflict. After our environment we start to conflict with ourselves. So what are the reasons of this? Actually, there is many reason that we can tell but media is the most powerful point about this issue. Being in this sector gives gatekeepers the advantage to impose or/and express  their ideas, to many citizens. So the owner of themedia organs can reach mant people and give them their own ideas. In some case they even chance other’s opinions through their workers (intellectual workers). Employees who are below of the owners according to hierarchical system. So they need to obey and follow intention and requests of their boss.

In North Cyprus the big boss are usually dependent to political parties. So every media part has a strict political views which are related with the party goal. This means that each of them has at least one media representater in media such as newspaper, television, radio and nowadays all of them have internet web pages. So people can reach them easily and also they can take attention of people. “Halkın sesi , Kıbrıs, Cyprus Today, Güneş, Yenidüzen” are some examples of different sided newspapers in North Cyprus. All these different television and newspapers present same news from their sided for years and years. As a result of this attitude of Turkish Republic Northern Cyprus divided to many different parts which means division inside a divided island , and this caused a big chaos.  After the division both North and South community  has a question in their mind “should we have peace or not?” So media publishing their news by using this dilemma and  trying to answer from their side.  Furthermore, what i am trying to say here is also media has a conflict in themselves. And they almost force community to be polarized so citizens would feel themselves like they should follow a path and fight with others. Others who are not thinking like them.

All  Turkish newspapers has a cultural and historical sign in their names, for instance “Halkın Sesi” means “sound of citizens” which refers to “we will give all news from their part” but they also not mention other problems of society except ‘peace.’ Printed media determine their narratives, depending on these narratives and speeches they make closer or create a distance between Greek and Turkish Cyprus, and also Turkish Cypriots and Turkish from Turkey.  For instance;  “we are more European than the mainland Turks” or vice versa, “We as Turkish people rescued you from Greeks you should obey us!” , “our ısland was degereted by people from Turkey, they all criminal and problematic ”
